29 Days to Diva

My fabulous mezzo friend, Meghan, has hands-down the best singing-related blog I’ve ever read.  It’s called The Sybaritic Singer, and you need to go over there now.

She’s doing a post-a-day for February, in the theme of 29 Days to Diva and is explaining everything you’ll ever need to know for being a successful singer, from getting appropriate opera singer headshots to building your website to paying off your music-school-student-loans.

I can’t wait to see what she comes up with for the rest of February.

New Laryngeal Surgery

A fascinating article at USA Today details how a surgeon used part of a woman’s shoulder blade to recreate her larynx.  The patient regained her speaking voice after the operation, giving hope to many cancer patients who lose the ability to speak.

This is the first step in the process to help patients also regain their singing voices.  This was the first successful surgery of its kind.
